How Does the Treatment Work?
The process takes 2–3 hours depending on hair length and thickness. Here's what happens in the chair:
- Your hair is thoroughly washed with a clarifying shampoo to open the cuticle and remove build-up.
- The keratin formula is applied section by section and left to absorb for 20–45 minutes.
- Your stylist blow-dries the hair flat, then seals the treatment in using a flat iron at high heat — this is what locks the protein into the hair shaft.
- Your hair is left sleek, straight and incredibly smooth — results you'll see immediately.
How Long Does It Last?
With proper aftercare, a good keratin treatment lasts 3–5 months. The longevity depends on your hair type, how often you wash it and whether you use sulphate-free products. Fine hair may fade a little faster; thicker, coarser hair tends to hold results longer.
Is Keratin Right for Your Hair?
Keratin works on almost all hair types — straight, wavy, curly and even colour-treated hair. It's particularly effective for:

The most important post-treatment instruction: do not wash your hair, tie it, or tuck it behind your ears for the first 72 hours after the treatment. The keratin is still bonding with the hair during this time — any moisture or bending can leave marks or disrupt the smoothing effect.
After that, follow these simple steps to extend your results:
- Switch to a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner — sulphates strip the keratin coating faster.
- Wash your hair 2–3 times a week rather than daily.
- Use a heat protectant before blow-drying or flat ironing.
- Avoid chlorine pools if possible, or use a swim cap.
Will It Damage My Hair?
A professionally done keratin treatment using quality products does not damage healthy hair. In fact, most clients find their hair feels stronger and less breakage-prone after the treatment. The high-heat flat iron step requires a skilled hand — which is why we always recommend doing this at a reputable salon rather than a home kit.
Tip: If you're planning to colour your hair, do it at least two weeks before your keratin treatment. Keratin seals the hair shaft — doing colour after can prevent the colour from absorbing evenly.
